Close encounter expected in Toomevara

Kilruane McDonaghs take on Nenagh Eire Og in the first of the North Tipp Senior Hurling quarter finals this evening. This has the makings of a close encounter with both teams having had mixed fortunes during the championship.

Welcoming back Seamus Hennessy following a long injury lay off as well as Eoin Hogan and Niall O’Meara,  Kilruane are hoping to reach their first North semi-final since going down to Toomevara in 1994 but they will have to be at their very best to topple Nenagh.

The unusual Wedneday evening fixture is due to the fact that star Eire Og defender Richie Flannery, who has not missed a championship game since he made his debut 14 years ago, has an important fixture of his own on Saturday ….. his wedding in Boher, Co Limerick.

Verdict: Nenagh Eire Og (by a whisker)
